About M@iler D@emon.....
Mailer Daemon, rather MD as it is popularly known, is the in-campus newspaper of
the Indian School of Mines University,
Dhanbad. It is a non-profit organisation which aims at bringing the latest
developments in the institute to the notice of the students, providing them an appropriate
platform to voice their opinion, share their experiences and analyse the campus
activities. Mailer Daemon is a symbol of creativity of thoughts and freedom of expression.
Mailer Daemon is distributed free of cost to the students in the various hostels.
We not only reach out to each and every student at ISMU – e-copies of our issues
are delivered to a number of alumni throughout the world.
History of M@iler D@emon.....
The credit for the inception of Mailer Daemon goes to certain intellects of the
2K6 batch. They felt the need for an appropriate platform to voice their opinions
and thus in November 2003 Mailer Daemon was born. What started as a single page
newsletter graduated in two years into a four page monthly, and is currently a six
page fortnightly newspaper.
Functioning of M@iler D@emon...
The students of ISMU form Mailer Daemon’s work force. The teacher in charge of MD
is Prof. P.S.Gupta, Dean of Students Welfare (DSW), ISMU, but Mailer Daemon is entirely
independent of, and is not endorsed by the Administration of ISMU.
It is managed in all respects by the students.
Mailer Daemon is supported by the sponsorships and the caution money donations of
the immediate alumni.
MD is not just about 6 pages of paper, its more about the spirit of freedom, creativity,
expression – the desire to create something worthwhile – that’s what brings some
of the most talented, motivated and hardworking people into our teams every year.
